Chesterfield Way

This project was designed to create a functional outdoor living space while working with the natural grade of the property. A retaining wall-supported flagstone patio serves as the central gathering area, with flagstone walkways extending from it to connect different areas of the landscape. A straight seating wall was added to provide additional structure, durability, and built-in seating, enhancing the patio’s usability for entertaining and relaxation.

The planting design combines structural evergreens with vibrant, seasonal color. Ornamental trees and spruce provide height and permanence, while sumac introduces seasonal contrast with striking foliage. Around these anchor plants, layers of roses, hydrangeas, and a variety of perennials deliver texture, bloom cycles, and year-round visual interest. This combination balances the strength of the stonework with the beauty of a Traditional Color-Rich Garden style, ensuring the patio feels both anchored and inviting.
